Legal Document Requirements

We are legally required to see proof that we are sending each registration to its entitled owner.

As soon as you place your order, you will need to send an email including a flat faced picture of one document from each section. As soon as we receive the documents we will be able to get your new number plates made and sent out to you as soon as possible.

We need to see two original documents, they can be photographed and sent email to us at kwkustomsonline@gmail.com

Identity documents

You can use the following to confirm your name and address:

  • Driving licence
  • Utility, Council Tax or rates bill from the last 6 months
  • Bank or building society statement from the last 6 months
  • National identity card
  • The following will confirm your name only:
  • Passport – doesn’t have to be issued in the UK
  • Bank or building society debit or credit card
  • Police warrant card
  • Armed forces identity card

Proving you can use the registration number

  • Vehicle registration certificate (V5C or V5CNI)
  • New keeper supplement (V5C/2 or V5C/2NI)
  • Certificate of entitlement (V750 or V750NI) to the number
  • Retention document (V778) – not applicable in Northern Ireland
  • A renewal reminder for vehicle tax or SORN (V11 or V11NI)
  • Temporary registration certificate (V379 or V379NI)
  • A number plate authorisation certificate (V948) with an official stamp from the Driver and Vehicle
  • Licensing Agency (DVLA) or Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)
  • A electronic number plate authorisation certificate (eV948)
  • A letter of authorisation from a fleet operator (including lease or hire company) quoting the document reference number from the registration certificate

 

The photo must show the whole document, as we need to see the reference number to be able to fulfil our DVLA documentation.

Number Plate FAQs

Are your number plates legal?

Yes, our 4D and 3D Gel numberplates are 100% road legal and BS AU 145e compliant!

Please note that by law we include our company name, postcode and BSAU number on the plate. The font style for all our plates is Charles Wright which is the legal UK road font, compliant with the law.

The DVLA confirm that three-dimensional characters are legal and compliant with road laws, this includes ‘4D’ number plates, as 4D is only an industry standard name, and they are still classed as three-dimensional.

What is the standard sizing for number plates?

The standard UK size for number plates are 520mm by 111mm.

Please note this will vary if you opt for a shortened plate option. Shortened plates are cut down to a unique size depending on the length of your registration. Unlike our competitors, we cut these to whichever size you require rather than using pre-made short plates. We produce them to have a 16mm margin on all edges of the number plate, which leaves a nice even clean finish to your plate. If you require a specific size, please state this in the special requests box after clicking purchase.

Legally, your number plates cannot have a margin any less than 11mm.

What are your delivery times?

Orders will be manufactured from Monday to Saturday.

Do you sell show plates?

KW Kustoms does not sell show plates, as they could be used on the road, even though the manufacturer may sell them on the basis that they will not be. To avoid this, we will not sell show plates (this includes tinted plates, blank plates or those with non-standard spacing). We will only produce fully road legal plates, with standard spacing (as it appears on your V5C).

Can I add a slogan?

We do not add slogans or custom text to our number plates. This is not road legal, and due to our manufacturing process, we could not add a slogan even if it were.

Do your number plates come with warranty?

All of our plates come with a 12 month warranty covering manufacturing defects or natural occurring issues. We do not cover for customer inflicted faults. Please contact us via email or the contact page to get in touch regarding your warranty.
